Curriculum for Excellence on Sumdog
From the ages of three to 18, every pupil in Scotland embarks on their learning journey guided by the Curriculum for Excellence, developed by Education Scotland and the Scottish Government. At Sumdog, we’re passionate about supporting that journey. That’s why all our maths and spelling activities, questions, and assessments are carefully mapped to the Curriculum for Excellence benchmarks. This ensures teachers can trust that every task their pupils complete on Sumdog not only builds key skills but does so in perfect step with Scotland’s national curriculum. By aligning our content, we make it easier for educators to track progress, target interventions, and empower every child to succee, both in class and beyond.
Curriculum for Excellence: mathematics
We have worked closely with teachers across the country to ensure that Sumdog follows the CfE maths benchmarks and that all Sumdog features align to the Curriculum for Excellence in maths for Early, 1st, 2nd
and 3rd levels. For an overview of our curriculum aligned to CfE, you can download our scheme of learning.
Curriculum for Excellence maths tools
CfE benchmark tests
Sumdog has ready-made low-stakes maths tests that are aligned to the CfE maths
benchmarks, which are broken up into Sumdog milestones.
Games-based practice
Teachers can use our practice tool to set skills aligned to Curriculum for Excellence to complement their teaching in class, homework or revision of maths skills.
Curriculum for Excellence: literacy
Sumdog Spelling can be used by teachers in Scotland to help keep pupils engaged, providing literacy and spelling activities to spot gaps in learning. Sumdog has worked with Scottish teachers to confirm that we align to the Curriculum for Excellence 1st and 2nd levels. For an overview of our Sumdog Spelling, you can download our introduction to learn more about how we align with the CfE literacy benchmarks.
