We're delighted to announce that Sumdog has been shortlisted for the British Educational Suppliers Association (BESA) Evidence and Impact Award.
The award celebrates organisations making a measurable difference in education through innovation and evidence-based practice.
Sumdog is a targeted mathematics fluency practice tool designed to help all learners make progress. To be recognised in this category is a proud milestone for us.
The shortlist follows the publication of our 2025 England Efficacy Study, which found statistically significant improvements in primary maths attainment and pupil engagement among Year 5 pupils using Sumdog.
Independently conducted by ImpactEd Evaluation across 14 primary schools, the study analysed attainment data from almost 500 pupils alongside pupil surveys, teacher interviews and focus groups.
Over three terms, the 2025 England Efficacy Study found that schools using Sumdog demonstrated:
Teachers felt Sumdog supported mathematical fluency and was a valuable component of their toolkit for improving progress when used alongside high-quality teaching. The platform was widely used to consolidate classroom learning, provide additional practice and help teachers identify gaps in understanding through real-time pupil data.
The study also found that Sumdog's impact was strongest for pupils who often need the most support. Teachers reported particular benefits for pupils with SEN, lower-attaining pupils and those with lower self-esteem, with many highlighting how the platform's adaptive approach helped pupils engage positively with maths and build confidence.
Sumdog’s mission is to narrow the attainment gap by helping every child reach their full potential. We’re incredibly proud to be recognised in the BESA Evidence and Impact Award category as this highlights the progress we have made towards achieving this goal.
Thanks to the schools involved in the study and everyone in the Sumdog community, we’re hugely grateful for your continued support.
